Description:

Monterey Elementary is a culturally diverse neighborhood school with resources that include preschool (through CPCD), all-day kindergarten and offers transportation to an after-school program through the Boys and Girls Club. Their curriculum meets the needs of the culturally diverse student population by providing a variety of programs and teaching strategies aligned with the Colorado State standards. Parents and community members of Monterey are an integral part of each child's education through active involvement in his/her learning. Monterey staff is dedicated to providing a nurturing and positive learning environment for all students.

What to expect: Volunteers will be laying down gravel, weeding, general grounds maintenance and writing notes of affirmation to the teachers. 

Age Requirement: All ages welcome!

What to wear: Volunteers should wear work clothes and eye protection. 

What to bring: This project will require specific tools. If you have them please bring tools such as: rakes, wheelbarrows, shovels, post hole diggers and hedge shears. Please also bring water. 

Rally Details: Because you are serving in the Southeast area on CityServe Day, you will be rallying at Mission Trace (see map for details) at 8am. Join us at the Southeast Rally to pray and grab some coffee before you head to Monterey Elementary to serve. One of our local Pastors will pray over you before you go out to serve the Southeast side of Colorado Springs.
