Rocky Mountain Field Institute actively engages thousands of community volunteers every year through the completion of trail and restoration projects that help conserve and protect our treasured public landscapes.

What to expect:This City of Colorado Springs Parks property is popular with hikers, runners, and mountain bikers. The project addresses issues caused by erosion, habitat fragmentation, and non-designated trail use. Project tasks may include decompacting hardened soils, spreading native grass seed and mulch, transplanting small plants, and moving materials such as rock, dirt, and other natural materials. This is moderately strenuous work using tools in the outdoors. Be prepared for a rewarding day of trail work!

Age Requirement: 11 years +, parental supervision required for all minors.

What to wear: Long pants and sturdy shoes (This is required. NO open-toed shoes or shorts during the workday).

What to bring: Work gloves, Eye protection (work eyewear, sunglasses or RX glasses), Face covering if desired (buff, bandana, etc.), Water bottle(s) or hydration system with plenty of water, Lunch and Snacks, Weather-appropriate clothing (e.g. rain jacket), Sunscreen, Backpack to carry all of your things for the workdays
