Description:
Meadows Park Community Center has become a strong focal point for the neighborhood, dedicating itself to serving the community in a safe and healthy environment while providing free and affordable programs and resources for everyone. Here, dreams are nurtured, goals are set and achieved, and friendships are formed all the while engendering a growing sense of community pride and accomplishment. Like its community center counterparts, Meadows Park offers an array of programs and activities for preschoolers through senior citizens, delivering many of them through uniquely successful partnerships with other community agencies.
List of projects we will be doing: Weeding and cleaning the alley, wedding and cleaning the property, general property clean up, prepping the gardens for the gardening season, building the roof on the sunflower house, rebuilding the sunflower house, Putting up signs, planting faux flowers, turning the sand, raking and leveling the wood chips, leveling wood chips in the gardening areas after it is brought in, caring for and caring about our gardens, making our garden beds stronger, building scarecrows, cleaning and organizing the garden sheds, weeding SMIvywild outdoor Cafe' area, setting plants, spreading soil in garden beds, building garden beds, stabilize a strawberry tower, building in-ground beds, create water features for children to play in/with, and other small gardening projects as needed.
Waiver Requirements: If you're sending a minor as a part of a group, they must have a parent complete and send a waiver with minor. For minor waiver - CLICK HERE
Age Requirement: Jr. High and up, so 11+, Parental/adult supervision required for minors.
What to wear: Long sleeve shirt, long pants & closed-toed shoes. Please wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty! Please dress for the weather. Additionally, please make sure you have items like a personal water bottle, sunscreen, etc.
What to bring: If you have any of the following items, please bring them to this project: work gloves, rakes, hand tools, trash bags, electric hand tools for building, and other gardening tools that you would like to bring. PLEASE label your tools and equipment.
Parking instructions: Large parking lot on the property and ample street parking.
